Stormzy released his first track in nearly three years – and he has managed to feature a huge number of sports stars in the lyrics and video.

The rapper’s new song, ‘Mel Made Me Do It’, and its music video – which has a cameo from Roma manager Jose Mourinho – went viral on Thursday night.

Social media went mad as the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss’s iconic line ‘I prefer not to speak, if I speak I’m in big trouble’ was played in the song, alongside a clip of Mourinho and Stormzy putting their fingers to their lips.

Shortly after the launch, Mourinho posted a picture of the pair on Instagram and said: “Was great fun doing this cameo for Stormzy’s new music video out today. I had a great time.”

But while The Special One’s cameo stole the headlines, there were a large number of other sports stars weaved into the the seven-minute-long song’s lyrics and video, too.

Ranging from boxing, to athletics, to football, Stormzy name-drops a whole host of sport’s best in his new track.

But one of them has taken fans by surprise…

The British rapper begins by naming former Arsenal, turned Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saying: “For eight-figures I’m Aubameyang, I go and sign the ting.”

Then, iconic Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt appears.

The music video zooms across the world to show the now-retired household name sitting down on his sofa in his house in the Caribbean and switching on his television.

He tunes into ‘The Mel Made Me Do It’ show, presented by Jonathan Ross and Zeze Mills, with British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith sat on the sofa as a guest with Louis Theroux and Stormzy.

Iconic former Arsenal player Ian Wright also appears later in the music video, and his name is mentioned in the lyrics.

“It’s often ‘greatness’ comes to mind, but footballing legends like make Ian Wright greatness come to sight.”

Stormzy goes on to list more British sporting icons, including boxer Dillian Whyte, as he bigs up both him and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe, saying: “Man I got ‘tecs like I’m Kylian, punch like I’m Dillian”.

Unexpectedly, former Bournemouth and Fulham boss Scott Parker name features in the rap, too.

“Gaffer like I’m Scott Parker. From when the mandem use to rock parkas.”

Although Parker is probably best known for the range of cardigans he typically donned while on the touchline at Bournemouth and Fulham, Stormzy clearly rates his fashion sense.
