Last week, the developers of MultiVersus began dropping coded mysteries for the internet to solve. Fans were told that the surprise that was to be revealed once all 10 clues had been deciphered would be “worth it.”
This led to a cinematic trailer in which the Joker was revealed as a playable character in MultiVersus. As always, he appears to have an antagonistic rivalry with Batman.
Those who watched the cinematic trailer might’ve recognized the voice that was coming from the Joker. Indeed, the Joker in MultiVersus is being voiced by Mark Hamill, the voice actor behind the Joker throughout Batman: The Animated Series.
Though we’ve seen small snippets of Joker’s gameplay in MultiVersus already, we were being promised a full gameplay trailer for this morning. As promised, we now have a better idea on how Joker will play in MultiVersus with the release of this trailer.
Joker is demonstrated to have quite a bit a of reach with his attacks as he’s almost always attacking with a weapon. For example, one attack has him using an extendable boxing glove mechanism to attack opponents that are horizontal to his position.
He also apparently has an attack where he throws a series of playing cards at the opponent. This appears to be a multi-hitting projectile attack.
During the trailer, he’s also shown to have quite a bit of access to mobility options. One attack will allow the Joker to temporarily float in the air via a balloon while another will have him bouncing off opponents or the ground with a pogo stick.
The trailer also gave us a sneak peek at some of Joker’s alternate costumes. One of his costumes dressed him as “The Batman Who Laughs.”
Eagle-eyed observers might’ve also noticed the appearance of The Powerpuff Girls at the top right portion of Batman’s computer. Some believe that this could be a hint at them being playable, even though they haven’t been announced yet.
As expected, Joker also appears to have unique dialogue with Harley Quinn. In this trailer, the two were often paired together against a variety of opponents.
