Tyson Fury may have his sights set on Derek Chisora but his dad John Fury wants him to take on the winner of Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2.
Yesterday, Fury announced that he would be coming out of his brief retirement to take on Chisora in a trilogy bout, with the pair having met twice before in 2011 and 2014 and ‘The Gypsy King’ won on both occasions.
While boxing fans will undoubtedly be pleased to see Fury back, although no one seemed to truly believe he was gone for good, this is not the opponent people had in mind for his return.
The fight that everyone wants to see is Fury against the winner of Usyk vs Joshua 2 for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
Tyson’s dad, John, is among those who wants to see ‘The Gypsy King’ prove himself as the number one heavyweight of this era against the winner of Usyk vs Joshua 2.
“If Joshua gets the win, then it’s all to play for isn’t it,” John told talkSPORT. “Even I’d want [Tyson] to do that, I’d pressure him to do that.
“And Usyk, why not? He can beat them both at a canter so why not?
John went on to share his prediction for the heavyweight rematch and on this occasion, he is backing his fellow Brit.

“Don’t be surprised if AJ pulls it off,” John said, “I’ve got a sneaky feeling again that AJ’s going to do it and he has this remarkable way of bouncing back doesn’t he.”
John is not alone in this feeling, as Joshua himself has described himself as the ‘comeback king’ and he believes he has what it takes to right the wrongs of his first fight with Usyk and come out with a win in the rematch.
After their September 2021 clash, Joshua was widely criticised for his game plan of attempting to out-box one of the most technically gifted boxers on the planet.
In the rematch, however, Joshua has insisted he will be changing tacks, by using his physical attributes to his advantage and going for the knockout.
