Today we’d like to introduce you to Jewel Odejimi.
It’s an honor to speak with you today. Why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Jewel Odejimi and I am the founder of Arinity Health and Wellness. I am a certified health and wellness coach and I help busy women skyrocket their energy, minimize their stress, and shed excess weight while managing their hectic lifestyles.
I was raised in a medical family with plenty of nurses, doctors, and pharmacists. In addition to being a health coach, I am also a licensed and certified nursing assistant (CNA) as well as medication technician (CMT). My entire working career has been in healthcare. I have experience in health coaching, home health, medication administration, and healthcare administration.
While working as a CNA and taking care of chronically or terminally ill patients, I noticed that plenty of their conditions were triggered or made much worse by poor lifestyle choices. I became very knowledgeable on several kinds of diseases and I witnessed first-hand how unhealthy habits can lead to or encourage disastrous consequences in the future.
All this made me more interested in wellness and I sought training as a health coach. I trained at Legacy Holistic Health Institute where I studied in-depth human biology, psychology, chronic disease, practical lifestyle management techniques, innovative coaching methods, and numerous dietary theories with health and wellness experts, including Dr. Angela Cudger, Dr. Phillip Halstead, and many other renowned health, wellness, and nutrition authorities.
Drawing on my background, formal training, professional skills, and life experiences, I support my clients at Arinity Health and Wellness physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?
My inspiration to become a coach came to me in the midst of my weight loss journey during which I lost over 150lbs. I became driven to help other people like me who may be struggling with their health and feel they’ve tried everything, but can’t seem to find a solution. I struggled with my weight for many years. I even went to extremes, having weight loss surgery yet still losing only around 45lbs and maintaining a weight around 340lbs for years after. I was distraught and demoralized, but I was able to transform my feelings of hopelessness into drive and determination to lead a better life.
That experience taught me one very important thing: your physical health is often a reflection of your mental health. Aligning your mind is the first and most important step in achieving your best physical health. For this reason, I strongly emphasize mental and emotional wellness. My first message to my weight loss clients is to give themselves emotional permission to transition into their new healthy habits. Sometimes, we set unrealistic goals for ourselves and when we do not achieve them, we become disappointed and are more likely to rebound to our old habits. To avoid this, I emphasize the mental adjustments that must be made prior to physical changes.
I look back on my prior challenges and I am grateful for the wisdom they imparted onto me. I use this knowledge to change my clients’ lives, one simple habit at a time.
Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you over the competition?
I’m a certified health and wellness coach. I help busy women skyrocket their energy, minimize their stress, and shed excess weight while managing their hectic lifestyles. It is my mission to take my clients from overWORKED to overJOYED. I do this by developing hyper-personalized, easy-to-follow wellness programs. These programs are typically based in mental wellness, boosting energy, weight management, and self-care.
For instance, if your goal is to lose 50lbs, I can help you by determining your biggest mental and physical challenges that are hindering your goals. I conduct a few psychological exercises to determine any subconscious motivations for particular behavior. From there we work together to map out solutions and I coach you on your eating habits. I provide meal plans, exercise guides, self-care exercises, and so much more. We can meet at regular intervals to discuss your progress and decide if we need to tweak anything. The whole experience is a blast and after the first or second session, it feels like a normal conversation between friends!
So many people try and remedy all their problems by themselves, but you’d be surprised by the connections you can make when you’re working with a formally trained professional, such as myself. I have a huge arsenal of scientifically proven methods to help my clients boost energy, minimize stress, and shed unwanted weight.
What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?
When it comes to finding success in your health and wellness, you have to allow yourself to transition from the current version of yourself to your ideal version of yourself. The biggest mistake I see people make is being too hard on themselves and using small slip-ups as a reason to quit. Little mistakes here and there are to be EXPECTED! You are not a machine. Remember, the fastest way to transform yourself is SLOWLY!
You should accept where you currently are in your journey and work from there. Do not compare yourself to other people. The only person you need to worry about is yourself. The only goal you need to set is to be better today than you were yesterday. ALL progress is important, no matter how small you may think it is. Little drops of water make a mighty ocean.
Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?
In terms of health and wellness, success to some may be reaching and maintaining a particular weight, minimizing their stress, or having enough energy to complete a particular task. To me, success in health and wellness means living a long, healthy life while achieving my dreams, keeping my mental and physical health thriving, and experiencing all the great things that life has to offer.
What’s next for you?
I love to learn! So as I transform lives as a health coach, I am also continuing my education. I am studying to complete the national board exam for health and wellness coaching. I am also studying nursing science to further my education and training in healthcare. I hope to expand my coaching reach and help even more people as I progress!
Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more.
I do my health coaching through my private health coaching practice, Arinity Health and Wellness. I also offer tons of free guides and resources for anyone looking to immediately start sky-rocketing their energy, minimizing stress, or shedding excess weight.
