Ryu has clearly been struggling to keep up with fellow Shotos Ken and Luke in this first season of Street Fighter 6. Ed has now joined the roster with the latest update, but there were also some balance adjustments that Capcom bundled with the patch.
It can be argued that Ryu was the biggest winner of the patch as his Hashogeki special saw improvements across the board. Notably, the damage of his Overdrive Denjin Charged Hashogeki had its damage increase from 600 to 1,000.
Due to this particular buff, the maximum combo damage for Ryu is now able to reach even higher digits. The previous record was set by Javits with a combo dealing about 7,594 — with a little help from Dhalsim.
Once more, Javits has set out to showcase just how powerful Ryu is with his combos. Like the previous clip, Dhalsim’s Overdrive Yoga Arch ends up coming in handy here.
This time, Ryu is able to cap out at 7,830 damage with this combo sequence. That’s over 78% of a life bar against Dhalsim, though it’s certainly worth noting that this sort of combo will probably never actually work in an actual match.
