Javits sets new combo damage record for Ryu in Street Fighter 6

Though Ryu is generally perceived to be on the weaker side with regards to where Street Fighter 6’s meta is right now, he’s certainly no slouch when it comes to damage output. Ryu is capable of dealing absurd amounts of damage under the right circumstances.

Combo technician Javits highlighted how the previous combo damage record for Ryu was 7,588 by B-Ran. However, Javits has recently been able to overtake this record for Ryu with a 7,594 damage combo.

This is a combo that exclusively works on Dhalsim. More specifically, the extra six points of damage comes from trading with Dhalsim’s Overdrive Yoga Arch. Both hits of the projectile must be traded with individually.

The first trade occurs against Ryu’s Joudan Sokutogeri, better known as the Donkey Kick. To time the second trade, Javits buffers a crouching jab before following up with a Dragon Punch to continue the juggle. The second part of the fireball connects with Ryu here, which converts the Dragon Punch from a combo ender to a combo extender.

As expected, Ryu ends the combo with his Critical Art. The damage scaling is at its maximum by this point, but it’s enough to increase the damage dealt to Dhalsim from 5,344 to 7,594. That’s over 75% of Dhalsim’s stamina.
