MultiVersus received its large mid-season update today bringing in a bunch of new features, quality of life improvements and balance changes, but it seems like the patch introduced some issues too.
Player First Games just announced they’ve temporarily removed Jason Voorhees from the MVS roster in a similar move to what was previously seen with the busted Iron Giant.
According to the official post, the horror icon’s grounded up special can cause the opponent to stick to him, so they’re taking him down for maintenance.
This sounds like a “handcuff glitch” that have been around for over 30 years at this point with the most famous example being Guile in Street Fighter 2.
Said type of glitch can easily be abused to stall matches completely and lead to unavoidable time outs if they prove to be inescapable, so it could prove to be a real problem if it’s as simple to recreate consistently as it looks.

Since the Friday the 13th slasher only has one messed up move, it sounds like Jason shouldn’t be absent as long as Iron Giant was, who needed multiple moves retooled to remove infinite combos.
Strangely, his up special wasn’t even listed in the patch notes for adjustments, so perhaps another change may have broken the move’s interactions.
MVPs, we’re aware of the issue with Jason’s grounded up special causing opponents to “stick” to him, and we’ll be taking his character offline for maintenance. He will not be playable during this time, but the team is already working hard on resolving the issue. Rift nodes…

While the developers are working to fix the bug, Jason will remain unplayable in all game modes in MVS including Rifts and custom matches.
They also state that any Rift nodes requiring Jason can now be played with The Joker instead as long as he’s offline.
On top of the mid-season update, Warner Bros. also released the gameplay trailer for The Matrix’s Agent Smith today, who can be unlocked early by completing a bunch of event missions.
We’ll provide updates on Jason’s status as more information becomes available.
