There has been no shortage of tech and incredible sequences coming from Street Fighter 6 over the last year or so as players still take to social media often to share their latest findings. More often than not, we’re seeing the best set ups, combos, and tricks that the top tiers can do as these are the most often played characters in the game.
But that doesn’t mean low tier players aren’t also in the lab hustling and finding the craziest, coolest, and strongest tech they can. FGC lab monster and Third Strike aficionado AutoMattock recently shared a Street Fighter 6 clip in which he demonstrates an absolutely gnarly Jamie sequence that allows him to enter burnout, then recover from it by the end of his combo.
In the clip, we see AutoMattock’s Jamie taking on a Zangief player online. He lands a reversal OD up kicks to stop Gief’s pressure for a moment, then drinks up and scores his fourth swig of the round to reach his maximum drink level.
The Zangief player jumps back into Jamie’s range and is met with a quick target combo that is blocked and cancelled into Drive Rush, which puts Jamie into burnout. Fortunately for AutoMattock, though, this burnout period would only last until the end of his next combo, and before Zangief even had time to realize what was happening Jamie was already fully recovered and back at full Drive Gauge.
You see, after the Drive Rush cancel AutoMattock tick throws into Jamie’s command grab with crouching light punch, and once that command throw is secured he begins the full recovery sequence. A quick combo after the grab into level 2 super recovers a large chunk of Jamie’s Drive Gauge thanks to him activating it while already at maximum drink levels.
The level 2 super activation allows Jamie to extend the combo once again, and after a quick follow up into his Rekkas we see that AutoMattock cancels the last hit into another drink. Doing so gives him the meter needed to fully break back out of burnout and return to a fresh set of six pips of Drive Gauge.
What’s even more impressive about this whole thing is that it was performed in an actual match, and on top of that, we see that AutoMattock genuinely recovered the entirety of the Drive Gauge. If you look closely, by the time the command grab is landed Jamie sits with a completely empty Drive Meter, and by the end of the combo he has it all back again.
