Manager Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho have what one would call an unamendable relationship, and many would suggest he will never play for United or the Dutch manager ever again.
On account of this, there even has been reports of United considering a player swap with Dortmund that would see Donyell Malen go the other way.
It has been regularly whispered Sancho may end up at Dortmund next season or another club but with football, you never know, and he may be back at Old Trafford.
There even may still be some hope for the English winger in a red shirt after the recent appointment of Jason Wilcox.
As Manchester Evening News report, the hiring of Jason Wilcox as the club’s new director of football could see Sancho back in favour.
That’s because Wilcox was Man City’s academy director whilst Sancho was there, and the player flourished.
If this turns out to be the case, it could be very awkward for Erik ten Hag, albeit there is still a lack of clarity if he will still be around after the summer.
There’s no guarantee of that at this point, and it may well be that Sancho is welcomed with open arms because ten Hag has been moved on, but nothing will be decided until the end of the current campaign.
It’s clear that Sancho still has what it takes to succeed at the top level, and if the club can get the version of him that they thought they were buying, it’ll be like having an entirely new signing on board.
That very public discourse between him and the manager could end up being very detrimental to a player who not long ago exhibited signs of being one of the very best players in the world.
Perhaps all he needs is some trust, a fine run of form, and we can all get to marvel at his talents again.
