We have been fans of BossLogic‘s amazing artwork for a long time now. In recent years, you’ve probably seen Boss’ work in which the digital artist combines the likenesses of various actors with character roles that they’d fit well in for major films such as the Marvel Studios movies.
Before all of that, though, Boss was making fighting game-related artwork, and not just personal pieces featuring fan-favorite characters, but also fliers and artwork for major tournaments. The top notch creator has never forgotten his roots, and in some of his latest fighting game-themed artwork produces outstanding depictions of popular Mortal Kombat characters with a level of quality that is really damn hard to top.
Over the last few days, Boss has shared a handful of amazing art pieces featuring several of Mortal Kombat’s coolest ninjas. We see art pieces for Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Frost, and Noob Saibot here.
The overall tone of this fan art appears to be “dark and gritty,” with each one having a painting-like quality to it. What’s also cool about these works is that all of the fighters here are facing either left or right in a profile view, which means that if you pair certain ones up it feels a lot like they’re facing off at the character select screen.
Boss, as he often does, knocks it out of the park with his portrayals of these iconic fighters. Sub-Zero has frosty icicles hanging down from the front of his mask while Scorpion is in full hellspawn, flaming skull mode here, showcasing an excellent attention to detail.
Even cooler still is his design for Noob Saibot, a fan-favorite ninja that hasn’t yet returned in Mortal Kombat 1. With this contender who hasn’t seen an updated look for the latest title, Boss adds some influences from ancient Egypt that, in conjunction with some slick skulls, makes this badass warrior look even more badass.
