Manchester United’s bosses have reportedly reached out to a top Italian manager as a replacement for Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman manager orchestrated a comeback on the weekend against Brentford to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund. However, The Red Devils still sit in 12th place in the league so are far from out of the woods.
Ten Hag was at real risk of losing his job for the second time leading into the October international break, however, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the United bosses decided to stick by him once more.
That said, the club are still developing a shortlist of managers to be able to turn to if a drastic decision ultimately needs to be made.
Top candidates like Zinedine Zidane and Xavi are regularly linked to the role, as was Thomas Tuchel before he took his new role as the manager of the England national squad.

However, now a report from Italy has claimed that Erik ten Hag’s replacement is already greenlit ready for the 2025/26 season.
Italian manager Simone Inzaghi set to join Manchester United
Reports from InterLive.it have claimed that Simone Inzaghi, manager of Inter Milan, is already set up to manage United as of 2025.
The report says: “Simone Inzaghi has already given his green light to coach Manchester United in the 2025/26 season. The details of the operation that will finally take shape in the coming weeks are crazy.”
The report continued that a series of video interviews had been held between the Italian manager and United’s board. A three-year contract has reportedly been agreed upon, however, with reports saying that he was approached over the summer since being discredited, it may be worth taking this news with a pinch of salt until it’s confirmed by other media outlets.
That said, Inzaghi would be a great hiring, with the 48-year-old having returned Inter to former glory, winning the Serie A title, two Italy Cups and three Supercoppa Italianas since joining in 2021.
