One of Italy’s finest footballing talents in Roberto Baggio has expressed his admiration for Joshua Zirkee who has been linked with Manchester United for a while now.
Manchester United will definitely be in the market for a striker this summer ahead of Martial’s guaranteed exit and they are interested in Zirkee.
The Red Devils even had scouts watching Zirkee last month in the Bologna-Atalanta game as FC Inter News reported.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Baggio expressed hid admiration for Zirkee describing his quality in detail.
“He’s had an exceptional season in Bologna. He has great qualities and ample room for improvement,” the 1993 Ballon d’Or winner told Tuttosport.
The Dutch international Zirkee may not be as prolific as the world’s top hitmen, but his overall quality cannot go unnoticed.
As such, he may not offer the same other-worldy goal scoring top hitmen like Kane and Osihmen may offer United.
Zirkee’s best work comes in the half spaces and in between the lines which could be exactly what is needed to unlock United’s wide men in Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.
He is enjoying a fine season with Bologna scoring 11 goals in all competitions helping his team to a comfortable 4th spot.
Roberto Acquafresca, who spent six years at Bologna compared Zirkee to Berbatov with regard to his game play.
“And, if I have to compare him to someone, he reminds me a lot of Berbatov.Because has great technique and vision of the game and only scores beautiful goals, ” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
It remains to be seen if United make a serious pursuit of Zirkee in their search for a centre forward.
