The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River Chapter and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have concluded a productive meeting held at the Commission’s state office in Calabar on Tuesday, 26 August, 2025, signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.
According to a statement from IPAC state secretariat, which was made available to The Paradise News on Wednesday, key outcomes from the meeting included a pledge for enhanced collaboration between IPAC and INEC to ensure a robust and transparent electoral system. Both parties agreed to maintain continuous dialogue on electoral reforms, focusing on revising laws and adopting best practices aimed at improving the integrity of future elections.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a comprehensive voter registration drive, targeting a record number of registered voters. This comes in the wake of over 1.3 million online registrations recorded within just one week, demonstrating a strong public interest ahead of future polls.

Looking forward, IPAC and INEC outlined strategies to ensure election preparedness, emphasizing transparency, security, and fairness throughout the electoral process. The voter registration exercise is slated to run for one year, ending on August 30, 2026.
The meeting underlines the dedication of both IPAC and INEC to advancing democracy in Nigeria and safeguarding the credibility of elections in Cross River State and beyond.
