It’s still crazy to think that Invincible’s Omni-Man and The Boys’ Homelander are both playable in Mortal Kombat 1 via the Kombat Pack 1. With Takeda now available, fans have already shifted their attention to the newly announced Kombat Pack 2.
However, it would appear that future crossover interactions between Omni-Man and Homelander could be possible. As reported on by Variety, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed that there have been “chats” about this possibly happening.
Of course, it should be noted that Kirkman was quick to point out that nothing is being planned at the moment though this could potentially change in the future.
From here, Kirkman acknowledged both Omni-Man and Homelander being in Mortal Kombat 1. More than likely, these chats may have become possible thanks to their guest appearances in that game.
“It does seem like a fun thing,” Kirkman told Variety. “You got to see Homelander and Omni-Man fighting in Mortal Kombat 1. That was cool. I think that’s something people would be interested in. Maybe someday we do something exciting, but there’s no plans as of yet.”
It’s obvious to see why people would want to see Invincible’s Omni-Man going head-to-head against The Boys’ Homelander being that they’re both evil parodies of D.C. Comics’ Superman.
Notably, we’ve already had a small taste of how Omni-Man and Homelander would interact with one another based on their intro dialogues together in Mortal Kombat 1. While neither character seems particularly friendly with anyone else currently on the roster, the two seem particularly savage against one another.
We’ll just have to see how things play out from here. If there ends up being some sort of crossover adaptation between Invincible and The Boys, us FGC fans will be able to say that Mortal Kombat 1 did it first.
