Fans of the Injustice fighting game series have been waiting five years since the last installment dropped back in 2017, and it sounds as though they’ll be waiting a good bit longer as tweets from Chief Creative Officer at NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, imply as much.

Responding to a Gamerant article concerning the want for a third Injustice, Boon offered a response on social media that fans, as always, weren’t willing to take at face value. The NRS head honcho continued on with a few clarifying remarks on the matter.

“I can see how it looks that way, but that wasn’t the intension,” he said. And even there our minds are immediately preoccupied with the misspelling of the word “intention” as though it may be some kind of cryptic hint as we’ve been trained to be suspicious of just about everything Boon puts out.

In any case, it does sound like the team at NetherRealm Studios is currently working on something, and with Summer Games Fest 2022 right around the corner (starting June…
