Tonight saw Manchester United experience yet another defeat this season, this time at the hands of third-place Nottingham Forest.
In the fifth minute, former United attacker Anthony Elanga picked up the ball in his own half, launching a counter-attack, scoring and giving Forest the lead.
Unfortunately United weren’t able to do anything to draw even or to go on and win the game.
However, as if the loss wasn’t enough, Manchester Evening News reporter Steven Railston has raised concerns about one of Ruben Amorim’s key defenders.
The reporter explained: “Matthijs de Ligt was limping as he left the stadium” giving rise to worries that another one of Amorim’s centre-backs could be out of action.
Lisandro Martinez has already been ruled out of the rest of the season whilst Ayden Heaven and Jonny Evans are close to recovery.
However, thankfully for United fans, Railston explained that Matthijs de Ligt has calmed the concerns with Railston commenting: “he told me he was okay”.
As there’s no mention of a protective boot, that’s another good sign that the Netherlands international should be ok, with the Manchester Derby set for the weekend.
