The game started with Roosevelt’s running back Zaire Griffin bursting for a 60-yard touchdown run, giving the Roughriders an early 6-0 lead. Roosevelt’s defense was dominant early, with Jaymar Tasi and Pana Tuputala making key stops to force Eastside Catholic to punt on their first possession. Griffin continued his offensive tear, scoring again on a 31-yard touchdown run after quarterback Dalton Anderson moved the ball effectively down the field. The Roughriders extended their lead to 13-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Roosevelt appeared to be in control when Anderson connected with Griffin for a 59-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 19-0. However, Eastside Catholic began to rally behind quarterback Issac Corey, who connected on a 39-yard touchdown pass to Robert Ingram to make it 19-7. Trailing 26-7 in the fourth quarter, the Crusaders staged their dramatic comeback with key plays by Corey and running back Jeremiah Burroughs. A fumble recovery and a late-game drive, capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Nick Jones with just 4 seconds left, sealed the 27-26 victory. Roosevelt’s Griffin was a standout, finishing with 235 rushing yards, 137 receiving yards, and four total touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to fend off the Crusaders’ remarkable late-game surge.

The Rainier Beach Vikings claimed a thrilling 33-27 victory over the Bishop Blanchet Bears on Senior Night in a game that saw momentum swing between both teams.
