Although the original release of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite largely failed to live up to the expectations of fans and players, some of the most dedicated are attempting to reshape the fighting game into a better experience both in terms of visuals and gameplay.
The mod team behind Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite & Beyond just dropped a fan-made balance update for the game after their big gameplay showcase last night that players can try out for themselves now.
On top of the other major changes planned for MvCI from the Beyond team, this beta patch is the first to go into the hands of the public.
For the initial test run, most of the characters have been adjusted and focused around making them better with some nice buffs being listed for the likes of X, Hulk, Frank, Chris and more.
There’s also four major system-wide changes made to the gameplay system that largely aim to slow down non-stop offensive pressure situations by making Tag Crash a few frames slower along with having characters stay on screen an additional second after a Supertag for these tools to be a bit more punishable.
Command grabs have been buffed so that now all types of throws remove red health across the board to try and make them more rewarding and worth landing while grounded Mind Stone Surge has been significantly sped up to have 1/3 the startup frames as the base game.
In case you missed it during yesterday’s stream, MVCI:B’s first round of balance changes is now available to play! Give it a shot and let us know what you think using the hashtag #MVCIB_Balance.

As for the other characters, Strider, Captain America, Venom, Thanos, Nova, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Black Widow, Ryu, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Jedah and Thor have been adjusted in the beta patch too.
While much of what had been shown of the project up to this point had been the new visual graphic style, the fan developers are working on a lot more to try and make Infinite all it can be.
They’re trying to make a 2v2 mode, import new character models into the game for fighters who really need it like Captain America and Chris, put new colors palette options in and of course the re-balancing too.
These graphical upgrades are not included with this beta balance patch, however, and the one spearheading the project, fighting game content creator Maximilian, claims they may have a launch window after they do another three months of work though nothing is set in stone yet.

The developers are currently asking players who own Infinite on PC give the balance patch a try and provide them with feedback as to what else needs adjusting still to make a more enticing experience.
On the official front, there’s the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection coming later this year with Capcom in particular seeming keen on trying to make a new MvC entry in the future at some point too.
So while the companies have been cool so far with the fan overhaul project, Marvel and / or Capcom could still step in at any time and basically tell the team doing this in their free time for no financial profit of their own to put a halt to the work.
