The action begins anew and looking better than ever after months of hard work
What began as an attempt to “simply” update the graphics and shaders for the infamous Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite earlier this year has evolved into something much bigger, and it’s almost time to get hands on the results of all this hard work.
Maximilian just announced the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite & Beyond mod project he’s been leading is slated to release later this week, and there’s a launch trailer now available to see how much they’ve changed from the original game.
The project has grown from initially being a part time mod experiment worked on by WistfulHopes before top fighting game streamer and content creator Maximilian stepped in and brought more people aboard to try and make the experience much grander as a whole.
Now, there’s apparently almost 40 people working on this mod after more than eight months while Max himself has reportedly spent around $30,000 of his own money to help make this labor of love a reality (on something that cannot make him money back).
The team includes developers, animators, a multitude of artists and even musicians like Alex Moukala and Little V Mills to produce new tracks just for this mod.
As can be seen in the trailer, Infinite has been made over with a brand new and more colorful artstyle, and it shows shots side-by-side to see how different the game looks in action with the mod.
The user interface, costume colors, stages and have also been changed up as well while some characters also received some much needed model upgrades to appear better than ever before in MvCI — so Dante and Captain America no longer look weird.
There’s even some new costumes too plus a bunch of cool new artwork for the menus crafted by talented fans from across the community.
Even the gameplay is seeing an upgrade with a fan-developed balance update for the mod that gives characters better combo tools and even some new abilities like Thanos getting the full Infinity Gauntlet.
The mod itself is scheduled to release this Friday, December 20, for owners of the PC version of Marvel Infinite on Steam for free.
And for those who don’t already own a copy of the game, Marvel Infinite is currently on sale for 80% off on Steam until Thursday morning on December 19.
More information and the eventual download link can be found on the Marvel Infinite & Beyond website.
Max is set to host a new Direct stream on December 19 to show off more of what Infinite & Beyond Version 1.0 is going to offer in just a few days.
