As the battle for the soul of Southern Cross River state takes a legal dimension with the Labour Party candidate for Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State and the current House Member representing Akamkpa-Biase Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo filing a petition with the Elections Petition Tribunal, constituents and members of the public have been asked keep calm as the matter has received a boost with the response given by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC.
According to a statement issued by The lawmaker's media team, the response by the election's Umpire has further widened the scope of the petition further making the case very interesting. The response which was submitted in the early hours of 26th day of April 2023 has made the case very thick and will make very interesting headlines in the coming days.
The statement also debunked the rumour that the Labour Party Chairman, has withdrawn all Labour Party's cases from the court.

Cross River South Senatorial 2023: Election Tribunal Update
Following the report of the petition filed by the Labour Party Senatorial Candidate, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo – Dansuki challenging the outcome of the February 25th, 2023 Senatorial election in which Asuquo Ekpenyong Jr was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on alleged electoral irregularities and other sundry issues. We also have it on good authority that INEC, from the document at our disposal, have responded to the petition.
We are made to understand that the response has further widened the scope of the petition further making the case very interesting. The response we gathered was submitted in the early hours of today, the 26th day of April 2023. And contrary to widespread speculations of a purported withdrawal, the case is very thick and will make very interesting headlines in the coming days.
