Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been orchestrating a near-complete overhaul of United’s board, already having completed the appointment of former Man City CEO Omar Berrada and is in negotiations for two other top executives in Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox.
As Fabrizio Romano confirmed to GIVEMESPORT just two days ago, it is just a matter of time before United finalize the appointment of Jason Wilcox as technical director.
“The idea for Jason Wilcox is absolutely to go for the Manchester United job. It will happen. It is just about when, but I think it is the matter of waiting a short amount of time. Jason Wilcox will be the new technical director of Manchester United,” said the Italian journalist.
According to The Mirror, Wilcox could be the link that gets United Jarrad Branthwaite’s signature.
Wilcox has a close working relationship with Branthwaite’s agent, David Reeves, and it is this relationship that United hope will give them the edge in securing the young Englishman’s signature. The highly-rated executive has worked with a number of Reeves’ clients in his time at The Etihad.
INEOS are of the conviction of signing young British players who show the potential to be world-class players one day and the 21-year-old Toffees defender fits the bill, although his price may be a tad off-putting.
The young man is rated at an astonishing £70 million for a 21-year-old defender, but he may be the key to solving United’s defensive problems that have been here for all to see this season.
Erik ten Hag’s defence has been in shambles all season, conceding 3 or more goals on 13 occasions this season- unacceptable by any and all standards.
They have also conceded 225 shots this calendar year, which is more than any other side in Europe’s big-five leagues.
Judging these statistics, they certainly could do with a fine defender like Branthwaite.
