With immense emphasis placed on the porous security atmosphere in the state, the Mayor of calabar has taken up the challenge of tackling issues bordering around security also hereby placing it as a top priority in his administration. Reasons why the Mayor assembled a team of security operatives saddled with the responsibility of safeguarding the premises of the council from illegal trespassers and intruders for a crucial meeting to address security issues.
The meeting was heralded by challenges encountered by the Security operatives in the course of carrying out their official duty such as inadequate manpower, need for a utility vehicle, firearms for security personnel, reconstruction of the parameter fencing Etc.
The Mayor went ahead to assure the team that challenges raised will be well sorted out and an official report should be forwarded to him on their demands with a timeline of 24hours to receive the documented report.
In addition, the Mayor also added that a well conceived plan is in place to interface with all the DPOs, brigade commander, paramilitary outfits, also this will be extended to clan heads, community youth leaders, vigilante groups stationed in the Local government council. The Mayor has promised to tackle insecurity to a standstill throughout his stay in office.
