Job Purpose    

Bidvest International Logistics is looking for a Controller who can control procedures to process the flow  of cargo from the time that the order is placed on an overseas supplier until the goods are delivered to the Importer.  This includes all operational functions including the framing of entries on Cargo Wise.

Qualifications & Experience    

  • Matric                                
  • Tertiary education would be an advantage                                 
  • Any shipping accredited unit standard advantageous                                

Key Responsibilities    

  • Clearing of Import cargo in accordance with client requirements                                
  • Track documentation flow from time of shipment to time of receipt in BIL and EMO Offices                                 
  • Receive instructions and documents.                                 
  • Check for completeness and accuracy, if necessary, obtain further details / instructions                                
  • Create shipping files (paper and paperless) and register on CW / Frame the Bill of Entry on Cargo Wise                                  
  • Obtain master /house transport document information from carriers  /consolidators.                            
  • Distribute work to other departments.                                
  • Track cargo for which he/she is responsible.                                
  • Expedite cargo with carriers, terminals, depots and other transport operators.                                 
  • Keep clients informed and handle queries from clients and other stakeholders and departments.                            
  • Keep system updated with all communication and documentation received and affected                            
  • Ensure that all disbursements are recorded and recovered.                    
  • Initiate claims in respect of lost, damaged, or discrepant cargo                    
  • Record POD’s                                 
  • Carry out acquittal procedures.                                
  • Ability to handle forwarding clients with complex requirements.

SKILLS:

  • Well – developed negotiation  and presentation skills essential                        
  • Well – developed computer literacy skills (MS Office)                            
  • Well – developed inter-personal skills coupled with expert written and verbal communication
  • Sound Planning and organisational skills                                
  • High level coupled with a high tolerance for stress                            
  • Systematic, logic and analytical approach    

COMPETENCIES: 

  • Supply Chain knowledge will advantageous                            
  • Strong proven working knowledge of International Forwarding                    
  • Working knowledge of Airfreight/Imports processes                        
  • Must be numerate.                                
  • Sound working knowledge of incoterms and good geographic knowledge.
