Imo State Government has awarded one Ernest Prince scholarship to help in his education in the US and grow his talent in his chosen sports of basketball
Prince is a young promising and talented basketball protege from the state and will be gunning to improve his career in the United States.
According to a statement on Imo State New Media official social media handle, the scholarship is aimed at nurturing sports talent in the state and to create pathways for talented young athletes from the state to compete on the global stage.
The government in addition to scholarship will be providing the beneficiary with a stipend of 150 dollars monthly until he leaves the United States as the stipend is to ease his financial burdens and help him maximise his opportunities there.
“Imo State Government has awarded a prestigious American scholarship to Ernest Prince, a promising young basketball talent from the state.
“This gesture underscores the government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent and creating pathways for young athletes to compete on the global stage. Prince’s scholarship will enable him to hone his skills and pursue his education in the United States, serving as an inspiration for other aspiring athletes across the state.
“In addition to the scholarship, the state government has committed to providing Prince with a monthly stipend of $150 until he leaves for the U.S., easing the financial burden on his family and allowing him to focus fully on his development as both a student and an athlete
“The Governor has assured that more programs and opportunities aimed at uplifting athletes and promoting active sports participation will be rolled out in the near future. These efforts not only showcase individual talent but also aim to establish Imo State as a centre of sporting excellence in Nigeria.”
