DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (TCD) — A suburban Chicago man was convicted last week of breaking into an elderly woman’s home and sexually assaulting her in 2021.
The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office announced a jury convicted Anthony Lane on Jan. 10 of home invasion and three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
According to Addison Police, on the evening of Nov. 22, 2021, the 92-year-old victim returned home from a dialysis appointment and found Lane standing in her garage doorway. The woman tried to close the door, but Lane overpowered her and forced her inside. He tied her hands together with duct tape, carried her upstairs to a bedroom, and sexually assaulted her.
Lane reportedly fled the residence following the assault. The woman called 911, and she was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.
Addison Police arrested Lane on Dec. 2, 2021, and he was booked into the DuPage County Jail with bond set at $5 million.
State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said about the conviction, “After breaking into an elderly woman’s home, Mr. Lane duct taped her hands and sexually assaulted her. The level of depravity exhibited by Mr. Lane is extraordinarily disturbing.”
Lane faces up to 120 years in prison.
