The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ebok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has appointed Dr Samuel Nwanosike as the new Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA).
This was contained in a recent government announcement signed by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Professor Ibibia Worika, on Friday, noting that the appointment takes effect from April 11, 2025.
The appointment of Dr Nwanosike, a former local government chairman of Ikwerre Council Area, has raised eyebrows, as he is a key ally of former governor and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The move has sparked concerns about the motivations behind the appointment and its potential implications on the posture of the Sole Administrator of being neutral in the political impasse in the state.
