A member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara in the House of Representatives Patrick Umoh, has explained how he secured employment for 13 people from his constituency less than two years after being elected
Umoh stated this as he distributed 5,000 bags of rice to his constituents to mark the festive season adding that apart from facilitating employment for 13 constituents in various public service sectors, he also sponsored 16 bills aimed at advancing the development of the society.
“My office donated 6 electricity transformers and installed solar panels in some communities and restored electricity in Afaha, Ekpenyong 1, and part of Okon Wards in Essien Udim LGA, which had been left in darkness for about a year due to wind damage to poles, ” he said
According to him, he spearheaded infrastructure projects such as the ongoing and soon-to-be-commissioned two-classroom block at St. Charles Primary School, Uwa, in Essien Udim LGA, and the six-classroom block at St. Peter’s Primary School, Urua Edet Obo.
Umoh expressed gratitude to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio for his transformative leadership and his selfless dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians and called on constituents to continue praying for leaders at the National Assembly as they work towards providing better representation and governance.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates of incorporation for two newly established cooperative societies: one for the Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency Carpenters Association and another for the Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency Commercial Motorcyclist Association.
Umoh also provided seed capital of ₦1m each to these societies, a gesture aimed at promoting entrepreneurial growth among constituents.
He has also extended cash donations worth millions of naira to support the various groups and individuals, ensuring that the Christmas celebrations were memorable for all.
Speaking at the event, a National representative of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Comr. Anthony Unanam commended Umoh for his exemplary leadership and consistent efforts in addressing the needs of the people. “This is a gesture of love and true representation,” he said.
