We recently received the unfortunate news that MultiVersus is due to shut down in May. Although fans will still be able to “enjoy the game offline for the foreseeable future,” online features will be disabled and no additional content will be developed going forward.
Despite its problems, MultiVersus did have a lot of potential as a competitive platform brawler. Many even jokingly referred to MultiVersus as the “Smash Killer” due to how the Warner Bros. intellectual properties had the power to rival that of Nintendo’s.
Regardless, MultiVersus is seemingly destined for a tragic end. It would appear that, once again, Nintendo is thus far the only company that’s able to produce a platform brawler that’s of the quality that fans have come to expect from the Super Smash Bros. series.
MightyKeef recently released a new skit on YouTube that showcases a comedic interpretation of how Nintendo is reacting to this news. While the personification of MultiVersus is shown to be heartbroken about the development, Nintendo takes this opportunity to be a bully.
“Making a successful platform fighter is hard. So many things need to go right,” said MultiVersus in the skit. “I really appreciate you coming here, saying you’re sorry.”
“Oh, I didn’t say I was sorry,” responded Nintendo. “I said I heard about what happened…”
Hilariously enough, Nintendo in the skit only becomes more brutal towards MultiVersus as the video goes on. Check it all out in the video below:
