Purpose
- The Human Resource Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s human resource functions, ensuring compliance with labour laws, and implementing safeguarding measures.
- The officeholder supports staff welfare, recruitment, training, and development while fostering a safe and inclusive workplace.
- The role requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to safeguarding principles.
Responsibilities
Human Resource Management:
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes.
- Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Administer payroll and benefits, ensuring timely processing and compliance.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with legal requirements.
- Facilitate performance appraisal processes and provide guidance to staff.
- Manage employee relations, resolving conflicts and addressing grievances.
- Support learning and development initiatives, including training sessions and workshops.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and organizational policies.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Implement safeguarding policies to protect staff, beneficiaries, and stakeholders from harm.
- Train staff on safeguarding principles, reporting procedures, and best practices.
- Act as the safeguarding focal point, ensuring incidents are reported and addressed appropriately.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate safeguarding risks.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safeguarding compliance.
- Promote a culture of accountability and respect within the organization.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain and organize the organization’s HR databases and filing systems.
- Respond to HR-related queries from staff.
- Assist the accounts department in processing payments, invoices, and receipts related to HR functions.
- Support general office operations to ensure a productive work environment.
- Coordinate with vendors, partners, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Implement and monitor workplace health and safety protocols.
- Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
- Any other duties assigned.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)
- Proven work experience as a Human Resource Officer or similar role.
- Solid knowledge of HR processes, labour laws, and office procedures.
- A degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency with HR management software and office tools.
- Strong organizational skills with a proactive problem-solving attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Commitment to safeguarding principles and best practices.
- Experience in implementing safeguarding policies and practices.
- Certification in HR or safeguarding-related fields.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
