Now, if you need rest, your Apple Watch will give you one. The latest watchOS 11 gives you the freedom to pause Activity Rings on your Apple Watch, without losing your streak. This feature was there on everyone’s watchOS 11 wishlist, and we’ve got it. So, if you’re feeling under the weather, need a day off and chill in bed, or have a travel coming up, you can pause and resume your Activity Rings with a few taps. Follow this step-by-step guide to pause your Apple Watch rings.
Pause Activity Rings on watchOS 11

To pause Activity Rings, your Apple Watch must be updated to watchOS 11.
Thanks to watchOS 11, it’s super easy to pause Activity Rings on your Apple Watch for up to 90 days without losing your streak. Once you’re back to your fitness routine, you can resume those rings to achieve your goals. Here’s how to do it:
- Press the Digital Crown to view apps on your Apple Watch.
- Open the Activity app and tap on Activity rings.
- On the next screen, choose Pause Rings.
- From here, you can choose how long you want to pause your rings. You have some preset options like For Today, Until Week, Until Month.
- To set a custom duration of your break, tap on Custom.
- Now, select the number of days using the Digital Crown and tap on Set to save changes.
Once you’ve done so, Apple Watch will resume your Activity Rings after the specified time. If you wish to resume your rings earlier than you planned, simply open the Activity app and tap on Activity Rings. this will turn on goal-tracking back on your Apple Watch.
Pause Activity Rings on iPhone
You can also pause your Activity Ring goals on your iPhone running the latest iOS 18. Here are the step-by-step instructions do to it:
- On your iPhone, open the Fitness app and tap on Activity Rings.
- Now, scroll down and tap on the Pause Rings option.
- On the next screen, choose a duration. You can choose from available options or tap on Custom to set your own break duration.
- Once you’re done, tap on Set from the top-right corner.
To resume your rings, simply open the Fitness app, tap on the Activity rings, and choose Resume Rings. In case you wish to edit the break duration, tap Edit Pause, set your new duration, and then tap Set.
That’s how you can pause Activity Rings on Apple Watch. With this new flexibility, you no longer need to worry about breaking a long streak or missing out on potential rewards simply because you were unwell or needed a break.
