The President of the Consortium Touristes Par Million Au Benin, Hon. Dine Bouraima, has called for increased unity and collaboration to maximize Africa’s tourism potential.
Bouraima, who at the 27th Annual General Meeting and Conference of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) held in Abuja, highlighted the commitment of both Nigeria and Benin to advancing tourism development.
He also extended his gratitude to FTAN President, Mr. Nkenrenwem Onung, for the opportunity to address the gathering and emphasized the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, particularly within the Yoruba community.
Bouraima, who is also the Vice President of the African Tourism Board, said: “Benin has a rich tapestry of cultural heritage, historical significance, and natural beauty. From the historic city of Ouidah to the breathtaking landscapes of Pendjari National Park, our nation stands as a beacon of potential and promise in the tourism industry,” Bouraima remarked”.
He stressed the need for a synergy between Benin and Nigeria to achieve sustainable tourism development.
Bouraima also highlighted the role of organizations such as the Consortium Touristes Par Million Au Benin and the African Tourism Board in fostering continental collaboration.
He urged stakeholders to leverage these platforms to unlock vast opportunities within the tourism sector, advocating for mutual growth and prosperity.
“It is imperative that we leverage our resources, expertise, and unique offerings to create a seamless and enriching experience for tourists. By doing so, we can ensure that both our nations benefit from increased tourism activity, greater cultural exchange, and enhanced economic growth,” he said.
Bouraima called for a renewed commitment to collaboration, knowledge sharing, and building bridges for mutual success, and expressed confidence in the potential of the tourism industries in Nigeria and Benin to contribute to a sustainable future for their communities.
