Sekou Kone made his debut for Manchester United U21s against Sunderland.
Although United lost the game 2-1, adding to a poor start for the U21s, Kone impressed.
After the game, U21 coach Travis Binnion remarked, “Kone was really bright when he came on.”
Signed from Guidars FC in the summer for £1 million, Kone has clearly made an early impact.
Initially, the plan was for Kone to settle into the U18s before moving up to the U21s with a view toward the first team.
However, he’s impressed coaches early, making his U21 debut and even participating in first-team training.
With Ruben Amorim coming in as the new Manchester United coach, a manager known for giving youth players opportunities, Kone’s future looks more exciting than ever.
But what did Kone do on his debut to impress both onlookers and his new coach?

Kone Debut
Sekou Kone was named on the bench for Manchester United’s U21s as they faced Sunderland in Premier League 2 action on Saturday afternoon.
However, things took a rough turn almost immediately.
Sunderland took an early lead in the third minute when Adil Aouchiche found the back of the net.
United bounced back quickly, though, with Jack Fletcher scoring his fourth of the season to level things up.
However, Sunderland soon regained control, with an own goal from Habeeb Ogunneye putting them back in front, and they added another just before halftime.
United’s Gabriele Biancheri managed to pull one back in the 45th minute, bringing his season total to 16 goals.
But Sunderland pressed on, scoring again in stoppage time and then just after the break to extend their lead to 5-2.
Kone entered the action in the 71st minute, replacing Finley McAllister, with United chasing a comeback that never materialised.
Despite the difficult situation, Kone looked lively on the ball and showed flashes of his potential, though Sunderland ultimately held on to seal the 5-2 result.
Kone’s physical presence is a big part of his game and there is no doubt when Kone finds himself in the starting XI, he will make a big impact.

Kone’s Future
Sekou Kone’s future at Manchester United is already looking promising, especially under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who has a reputation for promoting young talent.
Kone’s performances with Mali’s U17 national team, where he displayed impressive technical skill and athleticism, suggest he has the ability to thrive in competitive settings.
If he can establish himself in United’s U21s, he could play a crucial role in turning around their tough season, who currently sit in 14th place in Premier League 2.
A string of strong performances with the U21s could fast-track Kone’s path, with a chance to make his full senior debut later this season not out of the question.
With Amorim’s faith in youth and Kone’s clear potential, his journey at United is one to watch.
