MEET THE AMAZING YOUNG NIGERIAN POET, REKPENE JOHN, WHO SPOKE FOR 1 MINUTE AND BECAME AN INSTANT MILLIONAIRE ON CHILDREN'S DAY
It was a sensational moment at the Cultural Center, Calabar as 27 year old poet, Rekpene John, worked the audience into a frenzied ovation with his presentation on Children's Day (27th May 2016) titled: 'Dream Ayade Green Cross River'. This got the governor of Cross River State, Senator Professor Ben Ayade highly elated and inspired by the young poet's eloquence, passion and creativity that he instantly gave the sum of one million Naira to the incredible talent amidst cheers from the crowd.
Rekpene John is a graduate of English Double Major from the prestigious Cross River State College of Education, Akamkpa. He hails from Ebom community in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State. He has a strong passion for poetry, music and public speaking with an incurable drive for youth development and mind empowerment.
He is the CEO of www.mayamayamusic.blogspot.com an online gospel music platform to promote, upload and download gospel songs and events.
His love for poetry began in his secondary school days where he wrote a poem for his school. He has written many unpublished poems and also write poems for corporate organizations and brands.
In his own words, 'I wrote this poem for Cross River State in 2006 when Olusegun Obasanjo was president, finally it has come to limelight after many futile efforts to get government endorsement. Never give up on God and keep working at your dreams. Please share in my joy and testimonies shall never cease in your life this new month in Jesus name. I still aspire to become ambassador for Nigeria with my creative writing and ideas that will impact positively and empower Nigerian youths. Please support my dream by sharing this till it gets to the president'.
