…Says programme will complement state government’s youth empowerment drive
Cross River representative in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rt. Hon. Orok Duke has urged youths in the state to apply for the internship scheme announced by the Commission.
Duke said the Niger Delta Youth Internship Scheme which is a one year programme seeks to train and empower 10,000 youths in the nine states of the region, with monthly stipend of N50,000.
While calling on Cross River youths to avail themselves of the opportunity, the NDDC Commissioner declared that the scheme would go a long way to complement the effort of the Prince Bassey Otu-led administration in the area of youth empowerment. He vowed to ensure that the state gets its due allocation of beneficiaries and a level playing ground for all applicants.
He further stated that through the NDDC internship scheme, Cross River youths between the ages of 18 and 45, will be trained in various artisanal ventures ranging from agriculture to other crafts.
According to him, “This internship scheme represents a vital step toward realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reformative agenda, and it is something we have all been waiting for as Nigerians so that our country may continue growing further.”
