…Articulates Cross River’s robust environmental strategy and green ambitions

Cross River State has reinforced its commitment to global climate action as the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Hon. Oden Ewa, successfully represented His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, at the COP Local Leaders Forum – Pre COP 30 Governors Roundtable.
The high-level meeting, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, was jointly hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Under2 Coalition.
Hon. Ewa’s participation focused on articulating Cross River’s robust environmental strategy, sharing its “green ambitions,” and showcasing the state’s recognized leadership in shaping the next decade of sub-national climate action.

Addressing fellow leaders, Hon. Oden Ewa stressed the importance of the global collaboration. He noted that the Under2 Coalition, which represents over 1.75 billion people and half of the world’s economy, remains a pivotal global force in driving bold and practical solutions toward achieving net-zero emissions.
“The Cross River State Government (CRSG) is proud to be an active member of this crucial coalition,” he stated, following a productive session with the Climate Group and other global leaders.
The Commissioner concluded by expressing the State’s readiness to champion environmental stewardship, declaring that “Cross River State stands ready to lead the way toward a greener, more sustainable future.”
Cross River’s participation has further solidifies the state’s position as a key sub-national entity dedicated to realizing global climate goals.
