Ken and one other character get in on the fun as well
Large swaths of discussion surrounding Street Fighter 6 right now focus in on game balance, more specifically the woes that most of us feel when fighting against some of the game’s more powerful fighters. When it comes to normal attacks, Luke and his amazing crouching medium punch have been deemed to most egregious offenders, to the point of being “meme’d” on fighting game social media.
Said meme sees Luke doing the move from full screen away with his arm photoshopped to be massive and thus represent what it feels like when you’re facing off against the character. Well, FGC member Killbox took it upon himself to bring the photo to life by modding Luke’s crouching medium punch to actually act like this during gameplay.
Luke’s most oppressive normal starts up in six frames, combos into extremely painful sequences, has a notably far-reaching hit box, and is plus one on block. Needless to say, you see this move a lot when facing Luke… which is something that happens a lot in Street Fighter 6.
In fact, the character is heavily over-represented for this coming Capcom Cup as a whopping nine players have used him to qualify for the event with the million dollar prize pool.
Art has a way of imitating life, and so we look to Killbox’s recent update to Street Fighter 5’s Mysterious Mod (Luke exists in both SF5 and SF6, and as much as we’ve said about him in the latter, he’s actually more oppressive relative to the rest of the roster in the former) where Luke’s arm actually functions the way it feels like it functions:

This isn’t where the fun ends, however, as Killbox went on to mod two more characters’ normals to have similarly ridiculous properties.
Here’s Ken’s enhanced standing heavy kick, which can Crush Counter you into a forever juggle state. It also seems the fiery shoto has had his forward dash upgraded to resemble the seemingly constant rush down he’s capable of:

Finally we get to see what Zangief would look like with a bonkers crouching jab paired with the ability to cancel it into full screen command grab.
In before Zangief players claim he actually needs this tech.

We actually talked a good bit about Luke’s crouching medium punch and the changes people seem to want most for Street Fighter 6 right now in the episode of Talk and Block embedded below, so if you’d like a deeper dive on the subject then be sure to check that out.
Please let us know in the comments what you thought of these humorous Street Fighter digs; I personally thought the zippy Ken dashes were the funniest.
