There’s been a lot of debate lately surrounding the strongest characters in Street Fighter 6, which of course can be viewed through personal and community experiences / observations, though we shouldn’t be discounting some hard data either.
Cat Cammy just put together a fascinating match up table for SF6’s higher Master ranked players to show how characters have been performing at a top level online.
As detailed in their breakdown notes, these stats were collected from the time since A.K.I. launched in the game in September for ranked matches between players who both had at least 1,700 Master Rate points.
Individually, Dhalsim is the only fighter to have not just one but two match ups that are over 60% in his favor up against Zangief and Lily, which makes sense, but it is also important to point out that the stretchy yoga master doesn’t have as many users that high up the charts — so his sample sizes are quite a bit lower than the rest of the cast.
For other characters, only Kimberly, Chun-Li, Cammy, Lily, Rashid, Juri Guile and E. Honda each only have one match up where they’re at least 55% up while Blanka has a whopping three against JP, Cammy and Lily.
#StreetFighter6 #SF6 Matchups table, based on ranked matches 1700+ MR. The advantage of this one is that the matches sample is much bigger compared to the other ones I posted in the last days! If you appreciate my work, you can follow or buy me a coffee on pic.twitter.com/kxfiossa7L

Overall, however, there’s only just two with a total win rate above 51% between JP and Dhalsim, but the villain did so in over 161,000 matches while Sim only had 41,000.
Ryu, Marisa, Honda and Jamie are the only four to be under 49% in their totals also.
As for A.K.I., her highest rated match ups in Master rank are interestingly against Dhalsim, Rashid and Marisa while she has a tougher time fighting JP, Guile, Blanka, and Luke.
So while there is some variance across the board, the full picture is looking pretty darn balanced after thousands upon thousands of matches have been played, which is pretty cool to see.

Even the clear top tier contenders like Ken and Luke are only just clearing 50% win rates overall, and the lowest are only like 2% below them.
Cat Cammy also did a similar match up chart last week for only Legend vs. Legend ranked matches with some other very interesting results.
Luke and Rashid are the only characters above 51% in that data set while Ryu and Honda are under 45%.

It’s harder to put full faith in these rankings yet, however, because many of these match ups only have less than 100 games clocked in with Legend vs. Legend sets being pretty rare still.
Hopefully, we can get a better sense of the cream of the crop in SF6 in the coming months as we head towards Capcom Cup X in February 2024 and before the Master ranks reset their points again.
