Street Fighter 6 continues to receive new updates and content on the regular, but that also means some parts of the game aren’t going to work for a bit while they’re being added.
Capcom is doing so tonight, January 8 (or the 9th depending on where you are), with server maintenance coming to SF6.
As for when exactly it’s going down, online servers are scheduled to go offline at 9 p.m. PST / 12 a.m. EST and run through 12 a.m. PST / 3 a.m. EST though it might take a bit more or less time for functionality to return.
Like previous maintenance periods, that means all online features will remain unavailable for its duration including online matchmaking, lobbies, Challenges, Fighting Pass progress, the in-game shop and the Capcom Fighters Network.
This is to prepare the game for the Street Fighter 6 vs. Spy x Family collaboration event that’ll last from January 9 once the servers are back through January 31.
There’s no new character costumes for this promotion, but there are two avatar outfits being added for Yor and Loid Forger, which we’ll apparently have to wait for the servers to see how much they’ll cost.
On top of that, players will be able to log in and receive free Spy x Family themed items as well like photo frames, stickers and titles with the Battle Hub also being redecorated for the duration of the event too.
With over a month until Capcom Cup X still, we shouldn’t expect any large balance adjustments for the cast though we may see some small bug fixes.
Don’t go in thinking they’ll do a shadow drop for Ed either considering we haven’t even gotten a trailer for him yet, but we may have another chance later this month.
As for anything else added to or changed about the game, we’ll have to wait and see the in-game notifications for SF6 once the maintenance is over as well as the official patch notes that should come shortly afterwards.
