The latest DLC character and final fighter in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 1, Takeda, is now available for everyone. Regardless of what version of the game you own, you can now jump in, pick up, and purchase all of the DLC main roster characters and Kameo Fighters featured in the game’s first season of content.
While fans are already look forward to September for the big Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expansion, we can’t forget that there’s a brand new contender to try out in the game right now. The Mortal Kombat X student of the Shirai Ryu returns with an updated design that features a full face mask, but modders have been swift in creating a version of the character that removes it entirely.
The abilities that PC modders have in this day and age are astounding. Today’s technology allows them to not only do things like add characters to a game when they aren’t actually a part of the roster, but also edit character models to remove pieces and expose things fans don’t normally get to see.
One of the best examples of this is when we saw some screenshots of Street Fighter 6’s villain, JP, without his trademark facial hair. In similar fashion, today we get to see the removal of Takeda’s mask which reveals what exactly lies underneath.
Now, it is worth mentioning that there currently exists one gear item for Takeda that does take his mask off, but it replaces the piece with a big eye patch. This mod from ItsRokaya takes that gear option, mods it, and removes the eyepatch too for a fully unmasked and clean-faced Takeda.
Considering it takes a bit to unlock these gear pieces in Mortal Kombat 1, many of us will be seeing an unmasked Takeda for the first time here with these images. Of course, what better way to showcase anything in Mortal Kombat 1 than through the amazing digital photography work of TQT1995.
