Here's what happens if Goku survives the Radditz fight in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

We’ve known for a while now that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero players will have a unique opportunity not only to play through the epic sagas of Dragon Ball’s extensive history, but now we’ve got footage of one of the franchise’s most emotional moments retold.

The epic showdown in early Dragon Ball Z between Piccolo, Goku, and Goku’s brother Raditz, traditionally ends with a heavy sacrificial move by Goku. In Sparking Zero, however, you can play through the scenario in such a way that Goku actually survives.

Sparking Zero goes above and beyond, apparently having went the extra mile to record new voice lines from original voice actors like Sean Schemmel and Christopher Sobat as Goku and Piccolo dialogue about the fight following the unconventional finish.

You can check out the sequence here for yourself. Instead of Goku having to lock Radditz down and Piccolo shoot them both with his trademark Special Beam Canon, the Namekian lands a shot on an unsuspecting Radditz and the beam misses Goku by a hair:

We actually just found out a bunch of additional information when it comes to story alteration and customization today as Producer Jun Furutani spoke in greater detail than ever before about said modes in the final character reveal trailer.

This reveal also clued us into the fact that Sparking Zero is going to have 182 characters (as opposed to the apparent 164 that was previously suggested).

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is set to release on October 11, 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and those who pre-order the Deluxe or higher editions will get three days of early access.
