As we draw nearer to the big release of Street Fighter’s first ever outside guest character, Capcom continues to roll out new information about him by way of allowing content creators to try him out themselves.
Yes, Terry Bogard is coming to Street Fighter 6 as the game’s second DLC fighter in Season 2, and more gameplay footage of the Fatal Fury / King of Fighters combatant has surfaced revealing even more of his abilities. Now, for the first time, we bear witness to the actual damage he can dish out when using his level 2 super, Power Geyser, with all possible follow ups.
We recently learned that Terry has a unique level 2 super that incorporates something we haven’t seen in Street Fighter 6 before. With this powerful attack, Terry actually has the ability to extend it with follow ups by first using three bars of Drive Gauge, then using another stock of super meter.
Doing so takes his Power Geyser super to the next level with Twin Geyser, and finally Triple Geyser when all follow ups are used. Though we saw footage of this interesting super attack within his initial gameplay trailer, we hadn’t quite seen what kind of damage it actually does.
Having a level 2 super that can be extended at the cost of more resources immediately produces an important question: Does it deal more damage than his level 3 super?
Naturally, one would expect using more resources for an attack like this, which costs more than a standard level 3 super, to ultimately deal more damage, but now we get to see in action to determine the answer to said question.
The new footage we’re looking at today comes from the Lethal Plan YouTube channel, which uploaded an all new gameplay breakdown for Terry that was done entirely in Japanese. Fortunately, we are still able to see the life bars and appropriate meters, which show us exactly what we wanted to know.
When showing the different versions of Power Geyser in action, we eventually see all three hits land with its damage being shown via the health bar (no specific numbers just yet). Based on what we can see, it looks like the full clip Triple Geyser is lobbing off about 40% of Terry’s health, and with him likely having standard health values, that means we’re likely looking at somewhere in the range of 4,000 damage for this full blown super.
In Street Fighter 6, the majority of standard level 3 supers deal 4,000 damage, with their harder-hitting counterparts, Critical Arts, dishing out 4,500. If this move does indeed do a bit more than 4,000, then it might actually make sense for Terry to use it over a regular level 3, especially if he doesn’t have access to Critical Art at the time.
But at the very least, Triple Geyser’s damage appears to be on par with a standard level 3 super, which is pretty darn interesting. Here in the early days of Terry details and without trying him myself, I imagine we’ll see the level 2 extensions used more commonly at the end of the round to tack on more damage with Twin Geyser at the expense of Drive Gauge that will automatically replenish at the start of the next round.
