2018’s aging Dragon Ball FighterZ hadn’t been much in the news lately, but Wednesday’s new patch has brought it front and center for many as developers have unabashedly taken the proverbial restrictor plate off and given seemingly every character insane potential on offense.
Players immediately expressed bewilderment at the changes as FighterZ seems to have completely abandoned competitive pursuits in favor of an over the top, party game feel. Just how over the top are these changes, though? Globku puts some of the most egregious under the microscope in his latest video to show us the details of what’s changed.
The video doesn’t cover every last change as that would probably take hours to accomplish, but does give us a general gist of just how over tuned some of the characters have become. Super Broly is a great first example to look at.
The Legendary Super Saiyan is supposed to stand out amid a franchise of incredibly powerful characters, and to ensure he does so in FighterZ developers gave him remarkable new meter building abilities.
For starters, simply performing Broly’s auto combo will grant him a full super bar as part of the animation includes an enhanced ki charge. When Broly activates his level 3 super he now enters a state of passive meter build, meaning that his resources increase constantly until the round ends.
Though he’s previously spent time in the problematically powerful category, Ultra Instinct Goku was the recipient of a handful of new buffs. His auto combo now comes with the built in option to suddenly side switch and go for a grab, and new combo routes will matter of fact lead to even more damage than before.
When in Sparking, UI Goku’s wake up invincible reversal has no recovery after landing, and he can now combo into his counter super. What we’ve discussed here only scratches the surface, so check out Globku’s full video below to see what all kinds of crazy changes have arrived in DBFZ.
