Lest my joke in the banner about Rashid’s level 2 super, Ysaar, misrepresents the coming content, this is indeed a list of five different, incredibly powerful moves in Street Fighter 6.
Broski recently hit us with his list of the five worst moves in the game, and is now back with the best. Ysaar is easily the best maneuver, as we’ll soon see, but there are four others (and not all had by top tier characters) that arguably stand above all the rest.
Since Rashid’s level 2 is such a given, let’s dig into some of the details as to why. First and foremost, Ysaar effectively stops all action and gives Rashid control of the entire screen for the next 5-10 seconds almost every time it comes out. It spans the vertical length of the screen so you can’t jump over it, and only a few characters have maneuvers that allow them to pass through it, often in a predictable and unsafe way.
Once super 2 is out on the screen, Rashid gets two to three attempts at opening you up as it simultaneously protects him from having to deal with almost any offense. The move itself also happens to give Rashid buffs as it activates his cyclone mechanic that effectively enhances a handful of his special moves.
The risk the defender runs for simply trying to tech a throw can be up to about 60% of their health on top of being cornered and set up for additional wake up pressure (given they survive in the first place).
Should the defender play the odds and simply try to block it out, they could still get opened up via overhead/low, and may also be thrown multiple times. What’s more, all that blocking means giving up a good chunk (half or more) of your own Drive Gauge while being pushed all the way to the corner.
Broski puts it all under the microscope and concludes that even if you play as risk-averse as possible against Ysaar, it still often results in a loss of a whopping 30% of your health. Even other similar supers (such as Ed or JP’s super 2) pale in comparison as nothing really comes close to the effectiveness of Ysaar in this game.
You can heal all about Ysaar as well as the four other top tier moves in Broski’s full video here. Check it out and chime into the comments to let us know if you agree or not, and which moves you might replace with others on the list and why.
