Helicopter Crash: No Additional Bodies Found, Search Still Ongoing- NNPC Ltd

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd on Sunday said that search is still ongoing to recover the bodies of its remaining workers that were involved in the ill-fated helicopter operated by East Winds Aviation that crashed on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

The NNPC Ltd said this in a statement issued on Sunday and signed by Olufemi Soneye,
Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the National Oil Company.

Soneye said in the statement that no other bodies have been recovered, adding that search operation is still ongoing by relevant agencies.

The statement again condoled with family members of the unfortunate incident.

It reads, “The NNPC Ltd. wishes to announce that beyond the three bodies found in the ill-fated helicopter operated by East Winds Aviation that crashed on Thursday in Port Harcourt, no other bodies have been recovered.

“The company further notes that intensified search and rescue operations for the remaining bodies along with relevant authorities is still ongoing.

“Once again, our hearts and prayers are with family members of this unfortunate incident.”

The Sikorsky SK76 helicopter, with registration number 5NBQG, was operated by East Wind Aviation.

It had departed from the Port Harcourt Military Base en route to the NUIM-ANTAN oil rig when the accident occurred around 11:22 am.
