The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaeron, has called for a thorough forensic investigation into the fatal crash of a Sikorsky SK76 helicopter operated by East Wind Aviation into the Atlantic Ocean, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The helicopter en route FPSO – NUIMS ANTAN crashed on Thursday, October 25, 202, killing all passengers onboard.
The statement signed by the congress leader demanded that a thorough forensic investigation into the actual cause of the crash should be carried out.
The Congress had also extended its condolence to the family of the Captain of the crashed helicopter, Yakubu Dukas.
Before his demise, Dukas was the National Vice President of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), an affiliate of the Congress.
“While we await the details of this great tragedy in Nigeria’s aviation sector and subsequent investigation into the cause of this calamity.
“We extend our deeply felt condolences to the immediate family left behind by our Comrade, the leadership and membership of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers, friends, and colleagues who have been left behind by our departed comrade.
“We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of other victims of this unfortunate crash. We pray for strength and comfort for those grieving and for the entire nation, deeply affected by this profound loss,” he said.
