Well, that’s it. Robert Irwin and Rorie Buckey have called it quits. Robert, the offspring of the late Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, and Rorie, an influencer and Heath Ledger’s niece, have ended their relationship. They’d been dating for nearly two years.
On February 16, they took to Instagram to share the news. “We’ve decided to go our separate ways,” they said in a joint statement. They expressed deep appreciation for the time they’d spent together. They also wished each other the best for the future.
Their statement didn’t end there. They added, “We wish to express gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths.” It’s clear they still hold each other in high regard.
The first whispers of romance between Robert and Rorie surfaced in November 2022. They were spotted together on a beach in Queensland, Australia. Just a month later, Rorie was seen celebrating Robert’s 19th birthday. She was with his mom, Terri Irwin, at the Australia Zoo.
Fast forward to July 2023, and things seemed to be getting serious. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Australian premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Dressed in matching black outfits, they were inseparable. They posed for photos, looking every bit the happy couple. Rorie’s mom, Kate Ledger, is Heath’s sister.
