Vice President Kamala Harris has tapped Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., to serve as her running mate, multiple news outlets have reported.
I am proud to announce that I’ve asked [Tim Walz] to be my running mate,” Harris confirmed in an X post. “As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his. It’s great to have him on the team.”
“It is the honor of a lifetime to join [Kamala Harris] in this campaign. I’m all in,” Walz said in his own statement. “Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school.”
Walz took office in 2019 and emerged as the preferred candidate of the Democrats’ progressive wing to serve as Harris vice president, USA Today reported.
Minnesota last backed a Republican for president in 1972, when it supported President Richard Nixon’s reelection. The state has nonetheless, however, become more competitive in recent cycles and Republicans have begun to campaign there with more fervor.
Former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, held a joint campaign rally in late July in St. Cloud.
Harris and her running mate are expected to appear at a rally in Philadelphia later on Tuesday evening.

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
