Halle Bailey and DDG had a vision. They wanted their son’s name to be a real showstopper. The Little Mermaid’s leading lady, who let the world know in January that she’d become a mom, spilled the beans. The name ‘Halo’? That was all DDG’s brainchild.
“He’s the one who came up with his name,” she shared with People. The interview hit the stands on Feb. 1. “We just agreed, and we loved it. I love the name Halo.” Halle, who’s only 23, even threw in a little joke. The baby has his own “theme song,” she quipped. This was in response to a question about a possible link to her mentor Beyonce’s 2008 smash hit “Halo.”
But wait, there’s more. Halo’s connection to the music industry doesn’t stop at his name. Despite his tender age of just a few months, this little guy has already made his music video debut. He stars in DDG’s latest track “Darryl Freestyle.” The song even features a verse about Halle and their baby.
Before the birth announcement, Halle and DDG (aka Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) were pretty hush-hush about the pregnancy. In fact, they never even confirmed they were expecting. This, despite the rumor mill working overtime for months.
