Haaland withdraws from Norway squad
Haaland scored a hat-trick in Man City’s recent 6-0 win over Burnley in the FA Cup, but it appears the performance came at a cost. The Norwegian FA released a statement confirming that Haaland has been advised to return to City and “receive medical follow-up at the club”.
Norway’s head coach Ståle Solbakken acknowledged that Haaland was devastated at the news he could not play for the national team but expressed confidence that the group could still win points in the next matches without him.
Norway face Spain on March 25th and Georgia on March 28th with Martin Odegaard set to feature in both the games.
Haaland was substituted in the 62nd minute of the Burnley match after scoring a hat-trick against the Clarets. He had taken his season’s tally to 42 with six hat-tricks in the campaign.
City boss Pep Guardiola will be hopeful that Haaland will be available for their next Premier League fixture, which sees them take on Liverpool at the Etihad on April 1st.
The injury comes at a bad time for both Haaland and Norway as the striker has been in a rich vein of form this season.
However, the club will undoubtedly take every precaution to ensure Haaland is fit and ready to return to the pitch as soon as possible as they try to catch Arsenal.
