Five executive staffs from UNICEM now called LAFARGE has been kidnapped by an unknown gunmen within the Idundu bridge.
Report reaching Calabar Reporters news desk says, it was around 5:00am in the morning when some gunmen in Boat attacked two UNICEM staff buses. As one of the bus drivers tried to play smart, he crashes his vehicle into another one right in front of him. Due to that, the gunmen shot him through his skull where he died instantly on the spot.
The gunmen/militants were said to have been laying ambushed under the bridge at around 1:00am in the morning. Immediately the first executive buses arrived the area, they disbursed the two buses taking away five top staffs in mixture of white and black men and disappeared into the waves of the river.
The Mobile Police leading the convoy of the staffs were said to have ran for their own lives as they couldn’t stand the pace of the militants.
Calabar Reporters once reported that these similar gunmen had attacked and kidnapped people around the UNICAL River. Now, they’ve got another victims, killing an innocent driver and leaving his family in sorrow.
A vital source told Calabar Reporters that the militants came in through the Bakassi river to Akpabuyo then to Idundu bridge where they kidnapped their victims.
But could it be that the youths of the community where UNICEM operates have something to do with the kidnappings? As Calabar Reporters had once found out that the community in a letter had warned the management concerning the mass sackings of their people.
Although the UNICEM/LAFARGE plant is in grievances but work still prevails.
